WARNING: I HAVE ZERO TOLERANCE DURING STRESSFUL AND FRUSTRATED MOMENTS TO CARE FOR ANY GRAMMAR OR SPELLING ERRORS I MIGHT MAKE. I AM APOLOGIZING IN ADVANCE.
FIRST OFF I just want everyone to save their money & time. Do NOT go see The Other Guys! I can not believe how terrible, how unfunny and confusing this movie was! There's so many inconsistencies in this movie and unrealistic, over the top action sequences in this film, that for me, the best part was when i got up to add salt to my popcorn! ALSO, there seems to be zero chemistry between Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell..
Now, i LOVE comedies. I'm also a fan of Will Ferrell and i have no quams with Mark Wahlberg. In fact, i own Anchorman, Talladega Nights and Step Brothers on DVD - my favorite movies of his. I've even seen Kicking & Screaming and Blades of Glory in theatres. BOTH of which were more entertaining than The Other Guys. I've seen Elf (which was very cute) and Land of the Lost (on TV) and chuckled more at the stupidity in that vomit pool than i did in The Other Guys. I should probably mention I will not watch Semi-Pro. Sorry Will.
I'm so frustrated about this because The Other Guys was a movie i was VERY excited to see, in fact i was really eager to compare it to Dinner For Shmucks (which i'll also do a review on), but now i can say hands down, The Other Guys sucked in comparison.
Yes, it had its funny moments, most of which were shown in the previews and trailers, but i wanted more. I was very surprised to see Eva Mendes and Michael Keaton in this film. They were funny. I'll keep it at that incase you do waste your time on this movie, i'll let THEM entertain you without spoiling it.
Honestly, i would have liked it if The Rock and Samuel L. Jackson were in the movie more, pestering Will & Mark at their pathetic 9-5 responsibilities.
Also, this movie lasted much too long for no good reason. Even the flashback was unnecessary, though slightly amusing. I think Mark is really good at being angry and showing off a tough guy persona - especially for being such a little fellow. However, in this movie his outbursts seem really unnecessary as his partner wasn't even as annoying as he could have been (in comparison to Steve Carrel in Dinner For Shmucks). It was like Mark was getting mad at nothing and it was quite exhausting to watch.
I don't even know how to score it on a scale of 1 to 5. I will promise myself that i will never watch The Other Guys again. So, I guess a 1.5?
